Employees with disabilities are often a forgotten diversity segment in offices around America. A five year study conducted by the National Organization on Disability (NOD) and Sirota Consulting, examined the workplace satisfaction and engagement among those that had disabilities.

This study can help shed light for employers and VR Counselors across the country when trying to assist individuals in the workforce, or individuals seeking employment. To get a good understanding on the study, you have to understand the disability segment in America. Around 20% of the U.S. population has a disability (currently around 317 million people in the U.S.), making people with disabilities the largest minority in the U.S.

The results show that the largest difference in rates of satisfaction are centered around the employee and company relationship. This coordinated with the result that employees who were disengaged felt that there was less of a possibility to advance.
